OUR POLICIES

Our Refund Policy

Last Updated: May 18, 2026.

This policy applies to both show tickets and class enrollments purchased from Secret Improv Society. Where the rules differ, each product type has its own section below.

By completing a purchase, you agree to these terms. The detailed sale rules for each product are in our Terms of Sale.

How we issue refunds

All approved refunds are issued by reversing the original Stripe charge on your credit or debit card. Refunds are not paid as account credits, gift cards, or future-program rollovers. Stripe typically takes 5 to 10 business days to post the refund to your statement, depending on your bank or card issuer; we cannot expedite that timeline.

Show tickets

Refundable

  • Show canceled by Secret Improv Society — illness, venue closure, technical failure, or an act of God. Every ticket sold for the canceled performance is refunded in full. We will attempt to email all confirmed ticket holders as soon as we know.
  • Substantial change to the advertised performance — contact us; we review on a case-by-case basis.
  • Duplicate charge or technical error — refunded once we verify the discrepancy.

Not refundable

  • You bought a ticket and can no longer attend (but see Date changes below).
  • You arrived late and were unable to be seated. Per our seating policy, late arrivals may be moved to standing room or rescheduled at the door's discretion.
  • You did not enjoy the performance.
  • The show contained adult language or themes you found inappropriate.

Date changes

If you can't make the show you bought a ticket for, email tickets@secretimprov.com with your confirmation code at least 24 hours before showtime. We will move your ticket to another date with availability at no charge. Date changes are subject to seat availability and are not guaranteed for sold-out shows.

If we receive your request less than 24 hours before showtime, we will try to accommodate, but we cannot promise.

Group bookings

Group bookings (16 or more) follow this policy, except that cancellations within seven days of the booked date are non-refundable due to the seats held.

Class enrollments

Refundable

  • Program canceled by Secret Improv Society — insufficient enrollment, instructor illness, venue closure, or other reason that prevents us from running the program as advertised. Every enrolled student is refunded in full.
  • Withdrawal before the program's first session — refunded in full to your original payment method. Email us as soon as you know you need to withdraw.

Not refundable

  • Withdrawal after the program has begun. Once the first scheduled session starts, your enrollment is non-refundable, regardless of how many sessions you end up attending.
  • Individual sessions were missed during the program. A class enrollment buys a seat in the full cohort; missed sessions are not refunded, prorated, or made up.

How to request a refund

Email tickets@secretimprov.com from the email address used to make the purchase. Include:

  • Your confirmation code (looks like CONF_…).
  • The performance date or program name.
  • The reason you are requesting the refund.

We aim to respond within three business days. If you do not hear back within five business days, call (415) 596-6661 and leave a message; we'll follow up.

Chargebacks

If you initiate a chargeback with your card issuer before contacting us, we will not be able to issue a separate refund — the dispute process supersedes our refund process. It is handled by Stripe and your bank. We strongly prefer that you contact us first; we are responsive, and a direct refund is faster and friendlier for everyone.

Gift cards

Gift cards are non-refundable but never expire and can be used on any future show or class purchase.

Our Terms of Sale

Last Updated: May 18, 2026

These Terms of Sale govern the purchase of (1) tickets to Secret Improv Society performances and (2) enrollments in Secret Improv Society classes, through our website and at our box office. By completing a purchase, you agree to these terms.

Who we are

Tickets and class enrollments are sold by Secret Improv Society, doing business as Badjojo Productions, and operating out of the Shelton Theater in San Francisco, California. Contact: tickets@secretimprov.com, (415) 596-6661.

What you can buy from us

We sell two distinct categories of product through the same checkout:

  • Show tickets — admission to a single live improv performance on a specific date and time.
  • Class enrollments — a seat in a multi-session training program (Foundations, Characters, Narrative, Advanced Skills, or other programs we offer from time to time). A single class purchase covers the full program — every session in that series — not a single session.

Sections of these terms apply differently to each. Anything not explicitly limited to one applies to both.

Pricing and payment (applies to both)

All prices are listed in US dollars. The price shown at checkout is the total you will be charged, including any applicable fees and taxes. We accept all major credit and debit cards through our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store your card number; Stripe handles all card data.

Online prices may differ from box office prices. Early Bird Registration pricing may be offered on class enrollments from time to time; once you accept an Early Bird price, the full payment is non-transferable to a different program (see "Class withdrawals" below).

Confirmation (applies to both)

After a successful purchase, you will receive a confirmation page on the website with a confirmation code, as well as a confirmation email at the address you provided. Save the confirmation code — it is the fastest way for us to look up your order.

Shows: arrival, seating, and conduct

Arrival and seating

The box office and bar open approximately one hour before showtime. All ticket holders must check in at the box office no later than five minutes before showtime. Ticket holders who arrive late may be moved to standing room, seated at the discretion of the door, or rescheduled to a different show. We cannot guarantee specific seats; seating is general admission unless otherwise specified.

Sold-out shows

When a show sells out online, we generally do not have additional tickets available at the door.

Conduct and content

Performances are improvised and may contain adult language, situations, or themes. Parents and guardians should use discretion. Management reserves the right to refuse admission or remove any guest whose conduct disrupts the performance or endangers others, including due to intoxication or harassment.

Recording and photography

Audio and video recording during a performance is not permitted without prior written consent from the Secret Improv Society. We may photograph or record audiences for promotional use; by attending, you consent to such recording.

Performer and cast changes.

Cast lists are advertised in good faith but are not guaranteed. Any specific performer named in marketing materials may be replaced without notice due to illness, scheduling, or other circumstances. A change in cast does not, in itself, qualify a ticket for a refund.

Group bookings

Discounts are available for groups of 16 or more, subject to availability. Group bookings within seven days of the performance are non-refundable due to the seats held. Email tickets@secretimprov.com to inquire about a group rate.

Classes: enrollment, attendance, and withdrawals

What does enrollment cover

A class enrollment reserves your seat in a specific cohort of a specific program (for example, the Foundations program starting on a specific date). The price covers every scheduled session in that program or session.

Attendance

Class capacity is limited, so each student gets meaningful coach attention. We expect you to attend every session in the program you enrolled in. Missed sessions are not refunded, prorated, credited, or made up. This is true regardless of the reason for the absence, including illness, travel, or schedule conflicts.

If you know in advance that you will miss a session, email the program coach as a courtesy so they can plan exercises and partner pairings accordingly.

Program-start cutoff for withdrawals

Once a program has begun — defined as the start of the first scheduled session — class enrollments are non-refundable. This applies even if you attend only the first session or none of the sessions in the program.

The cutoff is firm and is enforced strictly for two reasons: class size is capped, and your seat displaces another student who is now unable to join; and coaches and curriculum are scheduled around confirmed enrollments.

If you need to withdraw before the program's first session, email tickets@secretimprov.com as soon as you know. We will refund the full enrollment price to your original payment method.

Program cancellation by Secret Improv Society

If we cancel a program for any reason — insufficient enrollment, instructor illness, venue closure, an act of God — every enrolled student will be refunded in full to their original payment method.

Substitutions and changes during a program

The instructor named on a program's listing may change without notice due to illness, scheduling, or other circumstances. A change in instructor does not, in and of itself, qualify an enrollment for a refund.

Session dates within a program may shift slightly to accommodate venue or instructor scheduling. Significant schedule changes — for example, a change of day of the week — will be communicated to all enrolled students; if the new schedule does not work for you, we will offer a credit toward a future program.

Level placement

Class programs are sequenced (Foundations → Characters → Narrative → Advanced Skills). Enrollment in an advanced program assumes successful completion of the prerequisites. We reserve the right to recommend reassignment to a different level if a student's skills are not yet aligned with the program they enrolled in. In that case, we will work with you to find an appropriate placement, and any tuition difference will be refunded to your original payment method (or, if the new placement costs more, collected from it).

Code of conduct

Class participants are expected to engage respectfully with coaches and fellow students. We reserve the right to remove a participant without refund for behavior that disrupts the learning environment, including harassment, harm, or repeated disregard for the coach's instructions.

Refunds (applies to both)

Refund eligibility and the process for requesting one are described in our Refund Policy. All approved refunds are processed through Stripe and returned to the original payment method.

Limitation of liability (applies to both)

To the maximum extent allowed by law, the total liability of Secret Improv Society and badjojo productions arising out of the sale, purchase, or use of any ticket or class enrollment is limited to the price paid for that ticket or enrollment. We are not liable for incidental, consequential, indirect, or special damages, including, without limitation, lost wages, travel expenses, accommodations, or any other costs associated with attending or attempting to attend a performance or class.

Governing law and disputes (applies to both)

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by direct contact will be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The terms in effect at the time of your purchase apply to that purchase.

Our Privacy Policy

Last Updated May 18, 2026

This policy describes the information Secret Improv Society collects when you visit our website or buy a ticket, how we use it, who we share it with, and your choices. It applies to secretimprov.com and all of its subdomains, including our ticketing site.

Who we are

  • Optionally, your phone number.
  • Payment information, handled by Stripe (see "Payment processing" below). We never see your full card number.
  • The show, date, and quantity you bought.

When you visit our website:

  • Standard request information your browser sends: IP address, user agent, referring page, and timestamps.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. We use both functional cookies (so the site remembers your session) and advertising and analytics cookies (so we can understand traffic and run ads — see "Advertising and analytics" below).
  • Information is collected by our analytics and advertising partners listed below.

We do not request or store sensitive personal information, such as race, religion, political affiliation, or Social Security numbers.

How we use it

  • To fulfill your ticket purchase and email you a confirmation.
  • To contact you about a show you bought a ticket for, including in the event of a cancellation or substantial change.
  • To respond to support requests.
  • To measure how our website is performing and improve it.
  • To run advertising for our shows and classes on Google and Meta platforms.
  • To comply with legal obligations (tax records, dispute resolution, fraud investigations).

We do not sell your information. We do not rent customer lists.

Payment processing

Stripe, Inc processes payments. When you check out, your card number, expiration date, and CVV are submitted directly to Stripe's secure payment form. Secret Improv Society does not receive or store your card number. Stripe acts as our payment service provider, and its privacy policy governs how it handles that data: https://stripe.com/privacy.

We do receive and store a Stripe payment identifier so we can look up your order and process refunds. We also receive the last four digits of your card and the card brand for support purposes.

Order confirmation emails

When your payment succeeds, our system notifies a Zapier integration, which then sends you a confirmation email containing your order details and confirmation code. Zapier is our service provider for transactional email delivery and is bound to handle that data only for that purpose. Zapier's privacy policy: https://zapier.com/privacy.

Advertising and analytics

Our website includes the following third-party tracking technologies:

  • Google Tag Manager — orchestrates the analytics and advertising tags below.
  • Google Analytics — measures how visitors use the site.
  • Google Ads — tracks whether visitors who clicked one of our ads went on to buy a ticket so that we can measure ad performance.
  • Meta Pixel (Facebook/Instagram) — does the same for ads run on Meta's platforms.

These tools set cookies and collect information about your browsing on our site, including page views, the pages you visited before ours, and (in some cases) actions you took, such as starting checkout or completing a purchase. The data goes to Google and Meta. We use it to measure marketing performance and to show our ads to people similar to existing customers.

If you do not want this tracking, you can:

  • Use your browser's "Do Not Track" setting or a privacy extension that blocks Google and Meta trackers.
  • Opt out of Google ads personalization: https://adssettings.google.com/.
  • Opt out of Meta ads: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=ads.

Cookies

We use functional cookies to keep your session signed in and remember your cart selections. We use advertising and analytics cookies as described above. Most browsers let you decline cookies; if you do, parts of our site may not work as well, but core ticket-purchase functionality should still work.

Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that need it to operate our business: Stripe for payment processing. Zapier for transactional email delivery. Google for analytics and advertising. Meta for advertising. Service providers that we use internally for hosting, error monitoring, and customer support.

These providers may use your information only to provide the service to us; they are not allowed to sell it or use it for their own marketing purposes.

We may also disclose information when required by law, in response to a valid legal request, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • Right to know what personal information we have collected about you.
  • Right to delete the personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions (we may retain records needed for accounting, tax, or fraud prevention).
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information; we do share information with advertising partners as described above, and you can opt out via the links in the "Advertising and analytics" section.
  • Right to non-discrimination — we will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or provide a different quality of service if you exercise these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, email tickets@secretimprov.com with the request and the email address you used when buying tickets. We will respond within 45 days.

How long do we keep your information

  • Order records, including buyer name, email, and Stripe payment identifier: as long as necessary for accounting, tax, and dispute purposes, generally seven years.
  • Mailing list subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
  • Website analytics: per Google's and Meta's default retention windows; we do not store raw analytics data ourselves.

Security

We protect your information using industry-standard practices: TLS encryption for data in transit, encrypted storage for data at rest, and access controls limiting who can view personal data. No system is completely secure, but we work to make ours hard to misuse.

Children

Our website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have, contact us, and we will delete it.
